Kim Norvell was born in Lewisville, Texas, and raised in the Dallas area. She received her Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of Texas at Austin in 2002, where she majored in Philosophy and was an officer of Alpha Phi sorority. She received her Doctorate of Jurisprudence, with Distinction, from the University of the Pacific, McGeorge School of Law in Sacramento, California, in 2005. While at McGeorge, Ms. Norvell received the Witkin Award in Legal Research and Writing, honors in Trial Advocacy, and was awarded membership in the Traynor Society.
She also acted as a teaching and research assistant and wrote for the Transnational Lawyer. Ms. Norvell is licensed to practice in California, Texas, and New Mexico, and before the United States District Court for the Western District of Texas.
Prior to joining Hicks & Llamas in August of 2009, Ms. Norvell’s practice focused on business and regulatory healthcare law. Her experience includes formation, dissolution and general corporate governance issues for corporations, professional associations, limited liability companies and partnerships, and mergers and acquisitions of healthcare entities. Today, in addition to medical malpractice and personal injury defense, Ms. Norvell represents clients in a wide variety of employment law matters, including drafting, reviewing, and negotiating employment and consulting agreements for medical and other professionals. She is also an Instructor at the University of Texas at El Paso in the Paralegal Certification program.
